Red Bull Wings Cup Is Kenya's Ticket to the Global Gaming Stage and It Goes All the Way to Miami

Red Bull Wings Cup brings EA Sports FC 27 competition to Kenya with university and open leagues. Winner heads to World Final in Miami Jan 2027

Kenya's gaming scene has been building quietly for years, and Red Bull just handed it a proper stage. The Red Bull Wings Cup, Red Bull's first-ever global EA Sports FC 27 competition, is officially open in Kenya, giving university students, casual players and competitive gamers a structured pathway from local competition all the way to a World Final in Miami in January 2027.

This is not a local tournament with a trophy and a handshake. One Kenyan player will walk away with the chance to represent the country on a genuinely global stage, competing against national winners from participating countries around the world. The road to Miami starts here.

Two Ways to Qualify, One National Final

The Red Bull Wings Cup runs through two distinct qualification pathways designed to open the competition to as wide a field as possible.

The University League puts students at the centre, with competition taking place at universities and student gaming hubs in One-on-One Rush Mode. The Open League runs online, meaning any Kenyan gamer with the skills and the drive can enter regardless of where they are based. Both leagues run concurrently, and the top eight players from each pathway, sixteen in total, will earn their place at the National Finals.

Those National Finals take place on 7 November at Century Cinemax Sarit Centre, where Kenya's ultimate EA Sports FC 27 champion will be decided. That winner then carries the country's colours to Miami.

What This Means for Kenya's Gaming Community

The timing reflects something real about where Kenyan gaming is right now. A new generation of players has moved well beyond treating gaming as a pastime. Competitive gaming is a pursuit, a community and increasingly a career pathway, and the infrastructure to support that ambition has been slow to match the pace of the talent.

Red Bull Wings Cup directly addresses that gap. Johann Mackboush, Red Bull Wings Cup Sportive Director, put it plainly:

"Red Bull Wings Cup is an exciting opportunity for Kenya's top EA Sports FC players to go head-to-head, showcase their skills and compete for a chance to represent the country on the global stage. This competition is about giving our local gaming talent a platform to shine and show the world what they can do."

By connecting the University League to the wider open competition and tying both to an international final, the Wings Cup creates a genuine ladder for Kenyan gaming talent, from a campus hub to a world stage in one structured competition.

A Limited Edition Can With In-Game Rewards

Alongside the competition, Red Bull is launching a limited-edition can featuring a unique code that can be scanned to unlock exclusive EA Sports FC in-game rewards, including Red Bull player cards and season points. It is a neat extension of the campaign that brings the gaming experience off the screen and into everyday life, and gives fans a reason to engage with the competition even if they are not competing themselves.

How to Get Involved

Registration details and competition updates are available through Red Bull Kenya's social media channels at @redbullkenya. Whether you are a university student looking to compete through the campus league or an online player ready to take on the open bracket, the path to Miami is open.

National Finals: 7 November 2026, Century Cinemax Sarit Centre, Nairobi. World Final: Miami, January 2027
