Cloud9 Launches Its Digital Banking App in Nairobi: Everything Money, Built for Africa's Next Generation

Cloud9 has officially launched its Everything Money App in Nairobi — a digital banking platform built for Kenya's young, ambitious generation. Here's what it offers.

Cloud9 launches its Everything Money App — and Nairobi's next generation of banking has arrived

There is a particular frustration that anyone who has ever queued at a Kenyan bank on a Friday afternoon understands instinctively. The forms. The waiting. The sense that the system was designed for someone else's life, at someone else's pace, in someone else's era. Cloud9 has built its entire product proposition around the idea that this frustration is not just an inconvenience — it is an opportunity.

On Friday 12 December 2025, Cloud9 officially launched its digital banking app — branded as the Everything Money App — at Nairobi Street Kitchen in Westlands, with an event that was as deliberate in its structure as the product it was celebrating.

The launch: from financial dialogue to live concert

The day-to-night format was not accidental. Cloud9 opened at 4 PM with an interactive ballroom mixer — a panel discussion hosted by Wanjira Longauer, bringing together the three co-founders and the brand's financial educator for a conversation about what Cloud9 actually is and why it exists.

Co-Founder and CEO Tesh Mbaabu, Co-Founder and CTO Mesongo Sibuti, and Co-Founder and Chief Customer Officer Hanisa Weru — alongside Cloud9 Brand Ambassador and Financial Educator Amos Ngahu — led discussions on personal finance, savings accounts, dollar accounts and the practical everyday use cases that shaped the app's design. Journalists, tech community members and members of the media engaged actively, while Gen Z and millennial voices in the room grounded the conversation in the financial realities that the platform was built to address.

By 7 PM, the evening shifted into 9Nyts — a full concert experience featuring live performances by Bensoul, Njerae, Mbithi and Genes1s, with DJ sets from Ally Fresh, Paps, Hiribae, Ghedi, Sir M, DkySimba and Dream. The transition from panel to dancefloor was seamless and intentional — a product launch that understood its audience well enough to know that the best way to build trust with Kenya's creative and entrepreneurial generation is to show up in the spaces they already love.

What the app actually does

Cloud9 is positioning itself as the banking solution that traditional financial institutions were too slow and too rigid to build. The Everything Money App allows users to open a global multi-currency account in under five minutes — no queues, no bureaucracy, no unnecessary friction.

The core offering covers the financial fundamentals that matter most to Kenya's young and ambitious generation: seamless payments, saving and investing, with access to credit set to follow — all within a single, intuitive mobile platform. The dollar account feature is a particularly notable inclusion, addressing a genuine pain point for Kenyan freelancers, entrepreneurs and creators who earn and transact in multiple currencies but have historically had to navigate cumbersome processes to do so.

The founding team's thesis is straightforward: traditional banking systems are often slow, rigid and fundamentally disconnected from the way Kenya's creators, hustlers and entrepreneurs actually live, spend and earn. Cloud9 is built on the belief that banking should move at the speed of the people using it.

Why this matters for Kenya's fintech moment

Cloud9 arrives at a significant moment in Kenya's financial technology landscape. The country that gave the world M-Pesa — the mobile money system that became the global reference point for financial inclusion — has an audience that is not only comfortable with digital finance but actively expects it to evolve. The next frontier is not mobile money transfers. It is full-service digital banking that integrates payments, savings, investment and credit in one place, designed for a generation that has never needed to visit a branch to feel financially empowered.

Cloud9's founding team — three co-founders who have built the product from a clear understanding of the gap between what traditional banking offers and what their generation actually needs — represents exactly the kind of entrepreneurial conviction that Kenya's tech ecosystem has been producing with increasing consistency.

The launch event reinforced that positioning. By striking a deliberate balance between financial education and cultural entertainment, Cloud9 delivered a debut that reflected both the seriousness of its product and its genuine connection to the community it serves.
